Do you think those of us who like bracing for recreational purposes only really tend do so in the cooler months of the year? I've done very little, if any since then! Any stories of bracing "problems" in hotter weather?

You could be right. Long dark evenings?!
I havent used mine so much recently but there seems to have been a lot else to do. Perhaps theres a bit more anonymity on the duller, darker days for those wearing out and about.

I have not worn mine much since last post in mid May. My wife was away for a weekend a month back so had some fun at home but did not go out. Otherwise, vacation time and getting the garden sorted have not left much time for braces.

Gardening in braces?
How about mowing the lawn? I'd really like to do that but far too overlooked.

Quiet? yes it is. I haven't worn mine much recently either, been busy, out, on holiday etc. Suspect I will wear it more when the darker nights return and I don't go out so much.

I haven't reported in for a bit. I've been going out in braces regularly, mainly in two ways. One is to get petrol for the car. Only incident there has been that a crutch dislodged some items on my side of the counter so they went on the floor, and the cashier immediately said not to worry and they would fix it up. The other is having an early breakfast. Recently in a café I had finished and was about to get up just as my plate was collected. I picked up my crutches and locked one knee, and the waiter put a hand out to help me get up.

Gardening in braces? How about mowing the lawn? I'd really like to do that but far too overlooked. re Mowing the lawn. I was doing just that a few weeks ago when the man who has lived opposite for years stopped to talk. During the conversation he asked if I had injured my leg. I explained briefly that I wear a legbrace and why. He had clearly never noticed it. Most people don't notice and if they do, it is unlikely to matter. In any case lots of people have things wrong with their legs. Some people use wheelchairs but not all the time. Sometimes people use crutches when they need to. If my KAFO were to break I would use crutches, which are far more likely to attract attention than a legbrace. In fact using crutches might be a way into you wearing a legbrace in public. When I use crutches no-one comments. They may have seen me using them before and very few know why I use them. (When I wore an AFO people generally did not know because it fitted inside my footwear. When the AFO became ineffective I used crutches either with it or instead of it.) There are ways and means and in the end its up to you depending on your circumstances. "You can't always have what you want."

I guess there could be several reasons why the forum has gone quiet, maybe with all the depressing Covid related news people are just not in the mood to do stuff in their braces, or at least post about it. More likely I think members (myself included) are just really fed up with all the ridiculous SPAM messages that keep coming up and staying away from the forum for that reason.

Agree about the spam. Worst I've come across for some time. Presumably the forum is not regularly moderated.

The spam is annoying but tolerable. It’s nothing to what the old newsgroups used to get! I just ignore it.
