Thanks for sharing. I am interested in the HKAFO arrangement. I hope to somehow modify a pair KAFOs to add the pelvic band and hip joints. I know it will provide more difficulty in mobility but it may also become a necessity sometime in the future. I kind of like the idea of trying to understand before the reality strikes in full force.

Breaking Benjamin is my favourite rock-band of 2000s. They had so many hits! The ones I remember are 'The Diary of Jane', 'Tourniquet' and their hit 'So Cold'. These are real songs, not fake ones like today! And it is awesome that Breaking Benjamin have a tour in 2020! So I'm going to attend Breaking Benjamin concert in 2019. The full list is here: Breaking Benjamin tour dates 2020. Check it out and maybe we can even visit one of the concerts together!

I have now been wearing my caliper to venture outdoors on numerous occasions, always under my jeans, I keep the caliper in a good secret place so when the wife goes on a shopping trip or whatever, I get the caliper out, along with some stockings and suspenders and the thrill of putting them on first in the house is a fantastic feeling, knowing that when I limp down the drive to my car, I am already going on a new adventure each time. I drive about 20 miles down the road visiting various stores, both local and national, filling stations, cafes and restaurants, garden centres, charity shops, etc etc., I have developed a polio gait and have never really had anything other than nice comments and smiles from people who seem to just accept the caliper as my disability anyway. I do actually like being outdoors wearing when possible and take various pictures of my outings, I really do not even think any more about whether anyone will eventually catch or spot me wearing, it probably adds to the thrill of dressing up, I do plan in the future to amkea full bus or train journey somewhere wearing the whole journey, to anyone out there wondering whether or not, I would say that until you get that experience and feeling, you may never find out, and I will say that confidence breeds the more you get used to wearing outdoors, happy to reply to any questions or responses

Just wondering...Assuming your wife doesn't know about the calliper, what happens if she returns home unexpectedly before you?

HI ok, yes i usually am ok with getting back before her return, just one occasion where I knew it would be touch and go to get back first, sort of added a little bit of excitement to the day, I went down a quiet country lane and quickly managed to take my caliper and undies off first, so I had to just leave them in the boot of the car till the next day, have you ever took the plunge to wear outdoors, if not it is well worth the effort, trust me! Couple of pics of me in the car

No, not away from home yet. Sometimes I think I couldn't be bothered, other times I start to work out a plan. It would have to be a long way from home though. Probably would be when staying overnight somewhere as I wouldn't be able to get from my house to car without being seen.

I like how you mix it with a bit of cross dressing, that would really increase the thrill. I like the way my braces slide on my leg a bit when wearing tights when sitting down and standing up when things need to settle in slightly different positions. I also tried a KAFO with high heels once, but only in the house and that was a really enjoyable experience, this was before I was open with my wife about braces, which I'll post about separately. Here are a few photos of a left leg KAFO I had about 8 years ago, now sold, with its normal shoe and with tights and heels.

In the early days of my bracing I purchased braces and kept them in secret from my wife. She eventually found out and went ballistic and I had to sell them all off, which really started my unhappy years of being denied, but that is another topic. As we discussed things, my wife said that the worst part of it was not wanting to wear the braces or even have them but to do it all in secret, the lack of respect, the lack of trust being large things. She was also worried that the kids could find them and that would raise more problems. As we discussed things she agreed that I could buy plaster and cast myself from time to time and perhaps at some point agree to leg braces. When the kids left home, she became more relaxed about having the braces and I bought a pair. I write this more as a reminder that things can fall apart rapidly if it all goes wrong. Now that I have a set of braces openly I realise how lucky I am and do not push things furtehr and risk more problems so I keep to mens footwear.

Today I listened to Radio 4 in bed with porridge for breakfast, had a not too hot bath, put the caliper with ischial ring on my right leg, put on shorts with a short-sleeved shirt and put my brown boots on. We went to a cafe at a garden centre and had lunch. In the afternoon we sat in our garden in the shade. I drank a bottle of good English bitter. I had taken off my legbrace so I could wear sandals. I wanted an empty afternoon and got it: too hot for anything! Early evening I did the ironing- mainly my t-shirts. Because I was not wearing my legbace I used the perching-stool which we were given when my wife broke her leg. We have eaten and will watch a film for the rest of the evening. I suppose only half the day qualifies for this thread. I used to use crutches a lot and I think I will use them again when I want to wear sandals out and about.

Hi everyone I hope you are all keeping healthy and safe in these strange and frustrating times. It does not look as though any sort of normality is going to return any time soon, but at least we can hopefully enjoy time with our braces, if only at home.
As some of you already know I am mostly a paraplegic pretender (although less of the pretending these days as I haven't walked for over a year now) who's main interest is using a wheelchair, but I do also like to use braces, either KAFOs or AFOs.
Normally I keep one wheelchair by my front door for going out and another to move about in my flat but recently I've been leaving my outdoor chair in my garage which means I need to use my KAFOs and crutches to get to the garage. On my regular trips to the local store I pass a small park with a childrens play area which has a set of parallel bars and some monkey bars which I've eyed up for a while. So today I unleashed my inner child since I had my KAFOs on and wheeled over to the parallel bars first, using them to lift my self from my chair then with knees locked I swung myself along the bars. Sadly (I guess as it's for children) the bars are not very long so it was only a few swings end to end but it was nice to see my wheelchair waiting for me at the end of the bars. Then I went and had a go on the monkey bars, again lifting myself to standing and locking my kness then lifting myself off the ground with my legs swinging free. Unitl I tried this I thought I had pretty good upper body strength but after only a few lifts my arms were starting to give out. That said the hardest part of the whole thing was wheeling across the slightly uneven grass to get to the equipment
Now I've found the courage to try the bars once I can see me trying them again in the future, who knows there might even be an admirer watching me although that does seem very unlikely!!!

Not sure where in the World you are located but Vintage Braces UK will make you a pair - but I guess you already know that as you found this forum! Doubt you'd get anyone to operate on your right leg without real medical need in the UK as it's against the Hippocratic Oath sworn by all medical students before qualification. Any positive replies to your own enquiries?
